Toni Herndon
Executive Director
 
Toni Herndon is the Founder and Executive Director of The Brighter Side Foundation in San Diego, California.  This foundation is committed to inspire and assist students in the United States to contribute their efforts towards the education of children in developing nations.   With experience in mediation for small claims court, micro finance counseling for West African refugees, and life and business coaching of entrepreneurial small business owners, Toni maintains a leadership role while positively influencing those she comes in contact with.  Her current role as a zookeeper in San Diego exemplifies her commitment to global conservation and education.   Her experience and knowledge of the teaching profession has provided the ability to promote active global citizenship in teens and young adults.  She holds a certificate in Mediation along with degrees in Cultural Anthropology and Sociology form Mesa College; and is currently pursuing a degree in International Security and Conflict Resolution at San Diego State University.
 
 
 
Joyce Harper
President
 
Joyce Harper is the Founder/CEO of Sharper Solutions, LLC, a management consulting firm specializing in organizational development, strategic management and marketing. She works with non-profit and for-profit companies helping them build organizational effectiveness and increase their revenue building potential. Prior to starting her own consulting firm, Joyce worked with several for-profit and non-profit organizations on the east coast and in the southwest, contributing to their growth and expansion. She has over 20 years of business experience, as well as a Bachelor’s degree from Baruch College, one of the top rated business schools within the City University of New York educational system. Joyce is currently a volunteer counselor with SCORE: Counselors to America’s Small Business, an affiliate of Nonprofit Management Solutions, an accomplished Toastmaster, and an active member of several business organizations.  Joyce has been married to Steven, an officer in the U.S. Navy, for nine years and they have a lovely daughter named Stefanie. The family relocated to San Diego from Norfolk, Virginia in July of 2006.

David Page has been the Associate Director of Finance and Controller of the Zoological Society of San Diego for over the last 5 years. His years of experience shine through having served as a Corporate Controller for such companies as Daou Systems, and for Inc., a healthcare information systems consulting company, and for Coyote Sports, Inc., a sporting goods company, and for Unifiber, Inc., a subsidiary of Coyote Sports, and for Scantibodies Laboratories, Inc., a biotech supply company, and an auditor with Ernst & Young, LLP, where he received his license as a Certified Public Accountant. David holds a B.S. in Accounting from San Diego State University, and a MBA from California State University - San Marcos.  He currently lives in Carlsbad with his beautiful wife and daughter.

Curtis Moore, Jr.
Advisor
 
Curtis Moring, Jr. provides insurance brokering and risk management expertise to commercial and personal accounts, including Public Entities and their departments and agencies.  He is the principal of the agency, which has operated successfully in San Diego for over 44 years with Sales annually exceeding $12.0mil.  Curtis is a member of the Independent Brokers Association of California, along with being a past Board Member of the San Diego Chapter, as well as, a number of other local professional organizations.  Curtis is a past Board member of the California Automobile Assigned Risk Plan for the State of California for which he served 2 1/2 years in an advisory position to the Commissioner of Insurance.  He is also active in charitable organizations like the Neighborhood House and Head Start Program, and the San Diego Food Bank.  Curtis is a past Board Member of the Jackie Robinson YMCA and a current member of the San Diego State University Advisory Board to the President, Dr. Weber.  He graduated Mesa College and San Diego State University with a major in Accounting, and currently resides in San Diego, California.
 
 
 
Ellen Warner Scott

Ellen Warner Scott holds a MS degree and certification in Rehabilitation Counseling from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She earned her credential in mediation from the National Conflict Resolution Center in 2001. Since then, she has served as Lead Mediator/Mentor in the NCRC Small Claims Court mediation program. As such, she trains University of San Diego Law School students and NCRC credential candidates. Ellen worked in various non-profit rehabilitation facilities in Buffalo, El Paso, and Seattle prior to relocating to San Diego in 1987. For 15 years, she managed CONSULT Publications Inc., a continuing-education provider which she founded in 1987. Ellen currently volunteers as a Docent at the Birch Aquarium and is an avid bicycler and traveler. She is committed to the idea that one person can make a difference by inspiring others through word and deed.

Amanda Cropper
Fundraising Chairperson
 
Amanda Marie Cropper is currently involved with the Development Department of the American Red Cross in San Diego, California.  She has coordinated large-scale fundraisers that have included many complex components, and is an extremely innovative and solution-oriented event coordinator.  Amanda is a graduate of San Diego State University as an International Security and Conflict Resolution major. As a military child, she grew up overseas in Puerto Rico, Italy and England.  Amanda’s international upbringing developed her passion for such issues as: human rights, international health care, education, and improving the global standard of living.  She now dedicates her time ensuring organizations have the funding they need to continue and to grow, thereby allowing them to impart their services to those in need.
 
 
 
Heather Rabenberg

Heather Rabenberg is strongly committed to the educational and personal development of local San Diego youth.  Upon completion of serving six years in the US Navy, she has since dedicated herself to providing opportunities to cultivate global relationships, increase intercultural competence, and to bridge the gap in an increasingly interconnected world.  Heather has served on the planning committee for the Annual Community Youth Education Day directed by the San Diego County Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, and has held the title of Youth Ministry Director at Immanuel Chapel Christian Church.  She holds a degree in International Security and Conflict Resolution (ISCOR) from San Diego State University and has served as Treasurer for the ISCOR Society.  Heather is also a founding member of Student Veterans Organization on the SDSU campus, and continues to seek out new avenues to allow individuals to share ideas and reach their full potential.
